Talk to your legislators

    • Community attendants are key to independence for many thousands of Texans with disabilities –
    • Yet they make as little as $7.86/hour, with no sick leave, paid vacation, or health insurance.
    • Refer to nearest Dairy Queen or Pizza Hut bearing a sign that says, “HIRING.  $15 PER HOUR.”
    • The inevitable shortage of attendants creates considerable difficulty.
    • Increase would improve reliability and service –
    • Which in turn will mean better health, less acute care, fewer ER visits, and of course unnecessary institutionalizations
